Lester Lee Bottoms was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Addie Belle (Tucker) Bottoms. He passed away Saturday in Tulsa at the age of 81 years.

Lester married Verna Lou McCluskey on December 25, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He served with the United States Navy Submarines during WWII where he was a radioman and electronic tech on the U.S.S. Pompon from 1943 to 1945. He attended Seminole Junior College and OSU before working in the oil field for National Supply Company in Healdton, Oklahoma and then Thompson Pump Company in Drumright. While working in the oil field, Lester was called into ministry, after which he graduated from seminary at S.M.U. in Dallas, Texas. He began his ministry as Pastor in the United Methodist Church in Ft. Gibson-Woodall in 1966. He also served as Pastor at Aline-Cleo Springs, Fargo-May, Shidler-Grainola-Foraker, Hydro, Selecman-St. Paul United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, in Alva at Oterbein and Hartshorne-Haileyville. Lester retired in June of 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, an avid genealogist and a member of the WWII Sub Vets, serving as both National and State Chaplain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Verna on February 5, 2006 and one brother.

Lester is survived by his four sons and their wives, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services: Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner, with the Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
