Louise S. Banks, 96 of Canandaigua, NY and formerly of Williamsport passed away, Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center.

She was born May 5, 1918 in Savannah, GA as Emma Louise Smith, the only child of James Herbert Smith and Lee Ora (Manes) Smith. Louise had lived in Williamsport for over 60 years with her family.

Louise is predeceased by her husband Harold A. Banks of 64 years who passed in 2005 and a son, Douglas in 2012.

She was a secretary in the library at Lycoming College for many years and had a lifelong love of reading.

Louise is survived by sons, David (Sharon) of Palmyra, NY, Thomas (Carmel) of Delhi, NY; a daughter-in-law Mary Ann (Douglas) of Williamsport; her grandchildren, Melissa of Jersey City, NJ, Andrew and Brian (Brenda) of Corning, NY, Michael, Carol and Christina Banks of Delhi, NY, Dr. Sarah (Eric) Banks of Spring Grove, PA, Ellen (Kenneth) Williams of Williamsport, David of Augusta, GA and Mary (Adron) Dell ‘Osa of Ellenboro, NC and numerous great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10am-noon Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 420 Elmira St., Williamsport. Services will follow at noon at the church with Rev. Dr. Rob Manzinger officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd. “A Life Celebration Home” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.
