Douglas R. Banks, 66, of Merrill Ave., Williamsport, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, in the Emergency Room of the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 23, 1945, a son of Harold and Louise Smith Banks. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Lycoming College. He was married April 20, 1974, to Mary Ann Price, who survives.
Doug was employed for nearly 40 years with the Streets and Parks Dept. of the City of Williamsport. He enjoyed music and was the ragtime piano player for the Morgan Valley Road Band. He was a true family man.
Besides his wife Mary Ann of 37 years, he is survived by his mother, Louise, of Williamsport; three daughters, Ellen Banks Williams (Kenneth), of Williamsport, Sarah Banks (Erik Laslo), of York, and Mary Banks Dell'Osa (Adron), of Moshoppen; one son, David S. Banks (Lena Yeagle), of Monterrey, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Haley, Alivia, Dey Vaun, Malachi, Brooke, Gabriel and Solafiore; two brothers, David L. Banks (Sharon), of Palmyra, N.Y., and Thomas A. Banks (Carmel), of Delhi, N.Y.; and anyone his life touched.
Doug's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation Monday, Jan. 9, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 380 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, where services will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at his family's convenience. Contributions may be made in Doug's name to the Brandon Park Commission c/o The City of Williamsport's Streets and Parks Dept., 1550 W. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Maneval Funeral Home of Williamsport, "A Life Celebration Home," is handling the arrangements.
