GERRIT H. TYSSELING

Gerrit Harry Tysseling, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 1990, at the Pella Community Hospital. He was born Nov. 6, 1902 east of Pella, the son of Peter and Wilhelmina Vermeer Tysseling.

He attended the Plainview Country Grade School in this vicinity and later took a short course in agriculture at Ames.

On June 21 , 1927, he married Georgia Henrietta Roorda. He continued to live and farm the land on which he was born his entire lifetime.

He raised purebred cattle, hogs and sheep and raised horses and mules. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella. His family was a charter member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two daughters: Pauline and Enid, both of whom live at home; a brother, Albert G., of Hilltop Manor South in Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilhelmina in 1948 and Peter in 1968.

Funeral services were held Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronald W. Plantinga officiating.

Casket bearers were Carl Tysseling, Gary J. Vermeer, John E. Terlouw, James Vande Voort, Leroy Van Zee and Bill J. Ver Meer. Burial was in the Black Oak Cemetery. Memorials may be designated for Church World Service.
