Gerrit Harry and Georgianna Henrietta (Roorda) Tysseling gave birth to their two daughters, Pauline Audrey on March 3, 1930 and Enid Mayme on April 10, 1933. They were raised on the farm, just east of Pella, Iowa, where Gerrit, a son of Peter and Wilhelmina (Vermeer) Tysseling, was born. Gerrit raised purebred cattle, hogs and sheep and thoroughly enjoyed raising horses and mules. Georgia and Gerrit picked their corn by hand and raised chickens. They enjoyed the outdoors, particularly gardening, and were privileged to enjoy nearly 63 years of married life together on the same place where he was born. Enid was baptized and received the solemn rite of Confirmation at First Reformed Church in Pella. The family later became charter members of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Enid and Pauline attended the Plainview Country Grade School and they graduated from Pella Public High School in Pella. Enid often said Pauline had the ‘brains’ and I was the ‘braun’. She obtained her drivers license and was seen as the chauffeur for Georgia and Pauline.

Gerrit passed away in January, 1990, at the age of 87 years. Following his death Georgia, along with their two daughters, Enid and Pauline, continued to reside on their acreage. They complimented each other and without one another this would not have been possible. While being cared for by Enid and Pauline, Georgia verbalized her going home to be with her Lord in November, 2000, at the age of nearly 97 years. Following her death Enid and Pauline moved into Pella in 2008 where they became residents at Fair Haven West.

Pauline passed away in August, 2013, at the age of 83 years at Jefferson Place where she had been a resident since July, 2008. Enid continued to reside at Fair Haven West until she became a resident at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville, Iowa in October, 2019 and passed away there on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at the age of 86 years. As was consistent with their benevolent spirits, Enid too, had deeded her body to the Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa for study.

Enid was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Epke A. and Johanna (Verhey) Roorda and her paternal grandparents, Peter and Wilhelmina Tysseling.

Enid was well-read too, and wrote poetry with appropriate illustrations along with her paintings. She enjoyed working with her hands in the dirt and was very fond of animals, particularly horses. The two of them, Enid and Pauline, will be remembered for their gentle, yet lively spirits.

A Memorial Service and Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 6:30 pm, Van Dyk- Duven Funeral Home, Pella, Iowa.

Inurnment will be made at a later date in the Black Oak Cemetery near Pella, Iowa.
