Henry was the youngest of eight children born to Jacob Henry and Laura Ann (Lesley) Moose. He married Edna Mae Bailey in 1927 and they had eight children: Jacqueline 'Jackie', Geneva Mae, Henry Daniel Jr., Sybil Ellen, Haston Jacob, (Daughter), Patricia Joy and Hal.
