Mrs. Arthur Poag, 49, died suddenly at her residence, 2400 Park Street, at 5:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. She was born in Orangeburg, but had lived in Columbia since early childhood.
Before her marriage she was Agnes Brickle, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brickle. Mr. Poag is superintendent of the electric meter department of the South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; one son, James William Poag of Columbia; one granddaughter, Michelle Poag; two sisters, Mrs. L. A. Krell of Jacksonville and Mrs. Edward Baush of Jacksonville; two brothers, H. D. Brickle of Columbia and Arthur Brickle of Orangeburg. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be from the Dunbar Funeral Home at 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery conducted by Dr. Paul Wheeler, pastor of Park Street Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers are J. W. Hicks, M. D. Gibbons, F. O. Brickle, A. M. Krell, A. G. Altman and DuPont Nungezer.
