Marguerite McMullan Gorman, 99, of Corsicana, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Visitation will be from at 1 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Marguerite was born in the vanished community of Tupelo, Navarro County, Texas, to the late Albert David "Dave" and Carrie Randle McCord McMullan. On June 6, 1937, she married Stanley F. Gorman and they raised one son and three daughters.

Marguerite loved the Lord and she loved her family. She made sure her family was well cared for always. She not only sewed most of the clothes for her three daughters as they were growing up but also their wedding dresses. She loved cooking and baking for others. Her hospitality was enjoyed by all who entered.

She created many beautiful special occasion cakes for friends and family and made sure they were safely delivered as far away as Little Rock, AR. Tea cakes and angel food cakes were love gifts to countless family members and friends for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, not only as a pastime but as a source of gifts for others. In her eighties she rekindled her artistic talents by joining oil painting classes.

Marguerite was a faithful member of North Beaton Church of Christ. Going to church and Bible study was an important part of her life. Even into her nineties, she made sure her friends were also able to attend by giving them a ride.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Gorman; half-sister, Adalyn McMullan Wood; brothers: Randal, AD, and Tom McMullan; a sister, Catherine "Kitty" Norwood; daughter-in-law, Nell Sloan Gorman; and son-in-law, Phil Woehleke.

Survivors include her son, Stanley Mac Gorman and wife, Gay, of Lampasas; daughters, Margie Taylor and husband, Ted, Debra Gorman, of Corsicana, and Melissa Woehleke, of Cypress; grandchildren: Jan and BB Holden, of San Angelo, Stanley Jr. and Linda Gorman, of Waller, Brett and Breck Gorman, of Shallowater, Stacie Carroll and Ben Eisenbise, of Roswell, NM, Coy and Tonya Harry, of Nacogdoches, Jenni and Jason Petty, of Dallas, Carrie Gorman, of Lufkin, Teddy and Keri Taylor, of Lucas, and Jessica and Brian Esquivel, of Mill Valley, CA; 20 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Smith, of Liberty, and Sybil Killough, of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
