Mrs. Celena I. "Lulu" Roper Carter, 96, of Kearneysville, died Thursday at Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benjamin F. Carter, Jr. a daughter, Doris L. Diggs; a son, Franklin "Frankie" Carter; three sisters, Emma Frances Grantham, Mary "Murphy" Mason, and Velda E. Brown; and two brothers, John and James Roper.

She was a lifetime member of Saint Paul Baptist Church in Kearneysville where she served on several committees and ministries as well as civic/community organizations.
