ABBOTT, Roy W., 96, of Louisville, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Baptist Health.
Roy was born in Checotah, OK. While attending Oklahoma A&M, he met his wife, the former Mildred Drake. They wed in 1941 in Mounds, OK and were married for 76 years until her death in 2016. He was a retired engineer where he had worked for G.E. for 40 years. He worked in engineering and technology. He was creative in the areas of heat transfer, fluid flow and thermodynamics, which resulted in many patents, the most notable being the Spine Fin. He was preceded in death by his wife. Roy is survived by his children, John W. Abbott (Janice), Clinton E. Abbott (Diane) and Susan A. Small (Kevin); his nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, with the service to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
