The 1860 census shows Jacob and Zipporah Smith residing in Quincy Illinois with children Mary and Morris.

The 1880 census shows the family in the same place, with an additional child: Florence.

In 1900 the somewhat elderly Jacob and wife Zipporah Smith reside in Washington, Buchanan county, Missouri. An eleven year old boy recorded as "boarder, apprentice" by the name of Daniel Taylor resides with them.

Daughter Mary wed William McCoy and lived in Arkansas.

Daughter Florence wed Gustavus Wells and lived in Kansas.
