Joan graduated from Marinette High School, and began working at Emerson Electric. After retiring from Emerson she went to work for Wal-Mart. Joan married Walfred “Bud” Bruce, on October 6th, 1980, at the Porterfield Lutheran Church. Bud passed away in 2005, and Joan retired, again, a few years after. Joan enjoyed baking and taking long walks. Her caring and thoughtful nature will continue on after her passing, as she wished to donate her body, to continue medical research for Alzheimer’s disease. Joan is survived by her children: Cindy (Mike Truitt) Baumler and Chris (Sheila) Boettcher; grandchildren: Nicole (Seth) Berg, Heather (Jãn) Patneaude, Kody (Mary Frewerd), and Kenneth and Jacob Frederick; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Biehl; and a twin sister, Jane Carlson. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette at 1 p.m., on Thursday, March 16th, 2017, with Pastor Jimmy McDonald officiating. Friends may begin calling at 12 Noon. Entombment will be at the Forest Home Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, it is preferred that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
