Mrs. Gowan was formerly employed with Alexander’s, later with Spartanburg County Senior Center, and served as director of the Senior Center in Cowpens. She attended Hope Church.
Survivors include her son, Joseph “Jody” Pinkney Gowan (Erika) of Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Liam and Ollie; sisters, Norma Jean Cantrell (Randy) of Cowpens, SC and Inez Hinson of Longwood, NC; and brother, Fredrick Gilbert (Connie) of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Westbrook; and little brother, Norman Fletcher Gilbert.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
