WW2 Veteran

John "Jack" William Steinberger, born October 3, 1925 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, and was the son of Ralph Irvin and Alice Roosevelt (Powell) Steinberger. He was the husband of Zenith (Richmond) Steinberger who he had 2 children with:
Johna M. (Steinberger) Moore (New Mexico) and Ralph E. Steinberger (Michigan). He worked hard most of his life until he retired. After he retired he and Zenith lived in the ranch house for a few years on Milakokia Lake in the UP built by his father Ralph just before he had passed away. Then they moved to New Mexico, where he passed away on December 15, 2017.

"Very sad to share that my Papa Jack Steinberger passed away today with his loving daughter Johna by his side. One of the funniest, kindest and most loving men around, Papa never met a stranger. As Kenzie tells it, he "had more stories than anyone" and he certainly loved to tell them--again and again!

47 years of memories include eating A LOT of ice cream (eating a lot of everything--food was his favorite!!), long drives in the country while listening to big band tunes, watching "The Gong Show," learning the rules of football during Sunday afternoon games, riding the waves in Lake Michigan, picking lots of raspberries, and countless hugs and kisses.

As a World War II vet, he loved sharing tales of his adventures with Connor (aka "El Diablo"), and played endless card games of War with Kenzie. They're so fortunate to have had a great-grandparent at their ages, and I'm lucky to have had an amazing man who valued hard work, his family and his faith more than anything as my Papa. Our trips to New Mexico will never be the same without him.

Rest easy, Papa. You've certainly earned it. "
His Granddaughter Heather wrote this.

We will always love you...
