Allan J. Babinski, age 79 of Minto, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in York, NE.

Allan James Babinski was born September 12, 1937 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Dominic and Gertrude (Wysocki) Babinski. He attended school in Voss, ND and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. He attended the University of North Dakota for two years prior to enlisting in the United States Army in November of 1958. He served until August of 1961. Following his discharge he returned home and farmed with his father. Allan was united in marriage to Jane Wosick in 1966. The couple made their home in Minto in the summer months and Arizona in the winters. Allan farmed and worked at the Grand Forks Air Force Base on the Roads and Ground Crew. He married Joanne Osowski Shambaugh in June of 1986. The couple made their home near Minto.

Allan was a member of the Minto American Legion, and the Grand Forks V.F.W.

He served on the board at the Minto Cenex for a number of years. Allan obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16.

Allan is survived by his wife, Joanne, Minto, ND; his daughter, April (Aaron) Smestad, Fordville, ND; step-children: James (Robin) Shambaugh, Minto, ND; Chris Shambaugh, Minto, ND; Joy (Jeff) Ovedal, Bemidji, MN; Diane (Mark) Gilleshammer, Grafton, ND; Mark Shambaugh, Ramsey, MN; granddaughter, Amanda Hejlik, twin great grandchildren: Skyler and Brody Peterson. Many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Leonard, Jack and George and sisters: Irene and Doris.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton and Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND in the spring.
