About 150 to 200 people attended Ramon's funeral on May 30, 2000, at St. Michael's Church in Flushing, Queens, where he was a parishioner. The Rev. Michael Melendez read a poem that Ramon's niece Alexandra wrote in memory of Mr. Nazario. "I hear your laughter as a tear slowly runs down my cheek. Oh! How I wish this was all a big mistake."

Ramon liked to barbecue and dance and also practiced martial arts in his spare time.

Ramon was one of the five people killed in a robbery at the Wendy's restaurant where he had worked for only three months. He was working 72 hours a week and planned to find a different job with fewer hours and better pay. Two employees were wounded but survived to testify against the killers. Both culprits were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
