Mr. Roy Franklin Anderson, 90, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he grew up in the Union Grove community near Niota. He was a son of the late John Elisha and Emma Kyker Anderson and was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. He was owner of Anderson and Dunn Auto Repair Shop for more than 50 years and was very knowledgeable of automobiles. He was always fair, honest, helped others and had a sense of humor. He was blessed with many friends, whom he cherished.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Anna Marie Hooper Anderson of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Julia Elaine and Alan Richardson of Garland, Texas, and Carolyn Styers of Parker, Texas; three grandchildren, Samuel Richardson, Julie Richardson Stewart and Brian Styers; two great-grandchildren, William Stewart and Abigail Stewart; and two very special nephews, Bobby Kyker and Randall Kyker.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating.
Entombment will follow in the McMinn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Alan Richardson, Samuel Richardson, Bobby Kyker and Rodney Dunn. Randall Kyker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 305 Ingleside Ave., Athens, TN 37303.
