Chuck was born in Holland, to Richard and Greta Strabbing. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas; 3 brothers, Bob, Jerry, and Don; and 3 sisters, Glady, Lois, and Joyce.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ona; children, Deb (Rob) Herrud, Mark Strabbing, Kathy (Larry) Scholten, Ruth (Jim) Steffes, Donna Strabbing, Paula (Brian) Scholten, Dan (Melissa) Strabbing. Chuck is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma VanPopering, Carol (Herm) Kolk, Mary (Roger) Shoemaker; in-laws, Joan Strabbing, Charles (Mary) Pardue, Anna Wall; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chuck was a man of quiet strength who loved unconditionally while always encouraging you to be your best. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Chuck loved his Lord, his family, his church, his gardens, bird watching, and sports of all kinds. He was a member of Park Christian Reformed Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Cadet leader, Youth Group leader, and he was instrumental in starting The Teusink Neighborhood Garden. He was also on the Laketown Township Parks Commission, and loved volunteering at Felt Mansion. After many years of work in the fiberglass industry, he retired from GPM (Great Lakes Spa) in 2003.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 28, 2017, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Park Christian Reformed Church, 1496 32nd St., Holland. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, 1 p.m. at Park Christian Reformed Church. Internment will be at Graafschap Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Laketown Township Parks or Park Christian Reformed Church.
