Ernest Slocum Succumbs At Age of 56 From Complications - Learned Trade At Clark's

Ernest Slocum, 56, a printer on Wilkes-Barre newspapers for the past 40 years, died at 4 oclock this morning in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for medical treatment since December 23. His passing was attributed to complications.
The body has been removed to the Phillips Funeral Home, 365 Wyoming avenue, Kingston, from where the funeral will be held on Monday afternoon with burial in Denison Cemetery.
Mr. Slocum had been employed the past 18 years at the Sunday Independent. He went to that publication from the Times-Leader, where he worked more than two decades. He learned his trade at the Perry Clark Printery.
He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Typographical Union, No. 187, and Wilkes-Barre Aerie of Eagles.
Surviving are his widow, Edith; a son, Donnelly Slocum of Buffalo, N. Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Maiser and Mrs. Anna Hopley, both of California, and a granddaughter, Dorothy Slocum.
