Mrs. Ann Eliza Smith, wife of Merry W. Smith, the former pork packer, died Sunday at her home, at Fourth and Sycamore, after an illness of ten months.

She was born in Salem New York, April 17, 1840, and came to Quincy when she was fourteen years old. She was married in 1856, and leaves her husband and one son.

She was a member of the Unitarian church and was a lady loved and regarded by all who knew her. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house. Burial private and later.

Mrs. Merry W. Smith, aged 55 years, died at her home, at Fourth and Sycamore streets on Sunday morning about 9 o'clock.

She had been ill for a year or so, suffering of a complication of diseases, but seemed to haev been improving, and Thursday and Friday was up and around the house. Saturday afternoon, she began to feel bad and went to bed, but grew worse rapidly and died at the time stated Sunday.

The deceased was born in Washington county, New York, and, when fourteen years of age, came to this city with her parents, where she has lived ever since, for forty-one years. On September 17, 1856, she was married to Merry W. Smith, who survives her.

She was well known in this city, having lived here for so many years.

Besides her husband, one son Charles survives her. He is in business in St. Paul, and arrived here Sunday to be present at the funeral.
