He was born in Gaston County, the son of the late Raymond and Mamie Hopper.

Jerry was a member of Myrtle Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy who served during the Korean War. He retired from Uniroyal Chemicals. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sandra Hopper; son Jerry S. Hopper and wife Pamela; daughter Jana Shepard and husband Mike; step-daughter Pam Messori; nine grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sister Dorica Holland; many nieces and nephews and special neighbors Bryan and Robin McQueen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Oneta Hopper; brother Donald Hopper and step-children Andrew “Butch” Evans and Andrea Skalandi.
