Charles H. Heckman, 79, Kiski Twp., died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, following a traffic accident on Route 286, Saltsburg.

Born Dec. 11, 1923, in North Apollo, he lived in Kiski Twp. most of his life.

A veteran, he served in World War II with the Army in the European Theatre.

Mr. Heckman worked in the modling department of Wean United Foundry, Vandergrift, for 40 years before retiring.

He was a member of Sons of Zebedee Lutheran Church, Saltsburg.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frieda P. Cramer Heckman; a son, Richard A. (Kathyrn) Heckman, Carlisle; two daughters, Sandra L. Littman, Pittsburgh and Mrs. Evelyn H. (John) Monson, Elizabethtown; and four sisters, Margaret Franzina, Hagerstown, Md., Norma Cuda, Pocono, Mildred Barnett, Memphis, Tenn., and Ila Darnell, Tacoma, Wash.

He also is survived by a granddaughter, Jessica L. Ellis-Heckman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Mary Grace Black Heckman, Sr.; and a sister, Barbara Brown.
