Archelaus Whitten Jr. is the son of Zilpha Randall and Archelaus Whitten Sr. of Wareham, MA. They married 22 Sep 1774 in Sharon.

His father died sometime before Zilpha married her second husband, Adonijah Maxam Jr. 2 Nov 1780 in Sharon, CT.

Archelaus married Betsy Clark; he is considered a pioneer of Genesee County and appears to have lived in Barre as early as 1804.
