"Morgan" was a given name of the times. According to the 1985 set of World Book, the first non-Indian settler in West Virginia was a man from Delaware named Morgan Morgan, who built a cabin in the Bunker Hill area in possibly 1726. I'm not suggesting that Morgan Allen was related in any way to Morgan Morgan. I'm just pointing out that because Morgan was a name of the times and there were so many men with the given name of "Morgan", it might not be possible to pin down which relative that Morgan Allen was named after. It was common in 1820 to name children after relatives though. And in this case we do have a likely relative who he was named after: Morgan Corder, a brother of Lucinda (Corder) Allen, who settled with his wife Louisa (King) Corder, in Muskingum Co., OH. Morgan & Louisa's son Lewis Corder, who was born in 1824 Frederick Co., VA, married Martha Jane Perry in 1854 Muskingum Co., then settled in Perry Co., OH.
Morgan Allen came with his parents from VA to Perry Co., OH where they farmed good farmland in the Moxahala (or Moxie) area.

According to the Illinois death records at Familysearch.org, he was 86 when he died in Ashland on 29 January 1907.

It's thought that Morgan might have been married first to Rachel H.S. Carey on 5 July 1842 in Perry Co., OH. The marriage record doesn't have complete information to confirm that. A woman named Rachel Carey married an Amos Supple in 1853 Perry Co.

Morgan did marry Hester "Hettie" Graffis on 30 March 1843 in Hocking Co., OH.
Morgan & Hettie Allen were in the 1850 and 1860 census records for Falls Twp., Hocking Co., OH. In the 1850 census, their children were listed as:
Susan Allen 2 OH
Eliza 0 OH
Also, in that same 1850 census living nearby were:
Catharine Graffis 72 PA
Margaret BURNSICUS 27 OH
Jacob Burnsicus 4 OH
Jefferson Nelson 7 OH

The 1860 Falls Twp., Hocking Co., OH census for the Morgan Allen family listed the children as:
Susan 12 OH
Eliza Jane 10 OH
Elizabeth 8 OH

Mary E. 16 OH
Morgan James 14 OH
