In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Jenkins; sisters, Florine Cave, Catherine Burton and Edna Hilliards; son-in-law, Bobby Smith and one step grandson.
Hazel was employed as a waitress at Big Meadows/Skyland Restaurant and Mimslyn Inn in her earlier years and later became a supervisor at H.D. Lee in Broadway. She was the pastor's wife of Elkton Pentecostal Church for 18 years where she supported her husband in his ministry.
On January 4, 1955, Hazel married, Reverend Kinzy Reed, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Wanda Myers and husband, Larry of Waynesboro and Nancy Hensley and husband, Delmas of Shenandoah; son, K. Dale Reed and wife, Beverly of Elkton; two brothers, Larry Jenkins of Stanley and Morris Jenkins and wife, Sandra of Luray; sister, Iva Richards and husband, Charles of Luray; three grandchildren, Tonya Reed, Amber Williams and husband, Chase and Jordan Myers and wife, Kayla; seven step grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Elkton Pentecostal Church with Pastors Larry Myers and Jordon Myers officiating. A private interment will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Saturday evening at Elkton Pentecostal Church, 16704 E. Summit Avenue in Elkton. Friends may also call any time at the home of Nancy and Delmas, 1085 Strole Farm Road in Shenandoah.
