Joseph Hearld Jenkins, 76, of 678 Pollock Road, Luray, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.

Mr. Jenkins was born May 31, 1928, in Stanley and was the son of the late Raymond Milton Jenkins and Julia Bessie Thomas Jenkins

He retired from carpentry work.

On Oct. 16, 1981, he married Irene Frances Campbell Jenkins; she survives.

Also surviving are two brothers, Morris O. Jenkins and Larry C. Jenkins, both of Luray; two sisters, Hazel M. Reed and Iva Richards, both of Stanley; three stepsons, Randolph "Randy" C. Alger Jr. of Stanley, Paul D. Alger of Luray and Don Lam of Rockingham County; three stepdaughters, Karen Whorton of Culpeper, Vickie Fridley of Warren County and Carol Fridley of Rappahannock County; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Aldine Pence, Jack Campbell and the Rev. Terry Cave will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Pentecostal Church. Burial will be Saturday in the Thomas Cemetery Tanners Ridge in Stanley.

The family will receive friends at the residence anytime. The body will be taken home 10 a.m. Saturday.
