A native of Cleveland County, she was a certified daycare teacher at Two by Two Day Care Center in Boiling Springs and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She attended Cleveland County Community College. She was a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Thomas H. Melton and paternal grandfather, Joseph Johnson Bates.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Alexander Barrett, of the home; three sons, Kevin Alexander, Cameron Mitchell and Justin Tyler Barrett, all of the home; her parents, Joseph J. Bates Jr. and Esther Melton Bates of Grover; a brother, Henry Bates of Grover; a maternal grandmother; Daisy Panther Melton of Shelby, paternal grandmother; Lucille Carroll Bates of Grover and a father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Anita Justice Barrett of Shelby.
The funeral will be at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
