Dale Abbott, 92, of Castalia, died Saturday evening, Dec. 27, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Helena, Ohio. He was a retired employee of Ford Motor Company of Sandusky and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Castalia Congregational United Church of Christ, loved to fix things, and was a hard worker.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Hendricks) Abbott; two daughters, Claudia (Marty) Orlowski and Theresa (Georgi) Dimitrov; two sons, Scott Abbott of Castalia and Phillip (Doreen) Abbott of Sandusky; eight grandchildren, Helga, Inga, Eric, David, Justin, Alivia, Dale and Derek; four great-grandchildren, Craig, Kai, Lance and Elijah; a brother, Leroy (Helen) Abbott of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Cora (Lederman) Abbott; a daughter, Penelope Siles; a sister, Oletta Nisckchi; four brothers, Mike (Russell), Oral, R.J. and Lloyd Abbott.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Castalia Congregational UCC. Pastor John Paputza will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
