Lillie Irene (Bennett) Easley passed away on January 8, 2017 in Gorman, Texas at the age of 99 years and 10 months.

Irene was born to Seabourn and Irena (Parker) Bennett on February 20, 1917 in Elkhart, Texas, in a family 'dog-run' cabin which dated back to pre-Republic Texas.

She was the youngest of eleven children. She attended Elkhart School system, where she met her future husband. Irene and Archie Olen (A.O.) Easley were married on October 22, 1938.

Irene resided in Gorman, Texas for 49 years. She and her husband relocated to Gorman from East Texas to establish themselves in the peanut industry. Irene was co-owner of A.O. Easley Trucks.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gorman, Texas and was a previous member of Elkhart First United Methodist Church.

Irene was devout in her Christian faith and served on various church committees and as church secretary for Elkhart UMC.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty (Easley) Harrison, of Gorman; her grandson, Rhett Harrison and wife, Tessa, of Stephenville; and great grandson, Rob.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, A.O. Easley, and son-in-law, Thomas Harrison.

A Memorial service will be held on January 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Texas.
