A private memorial service and inurnment at St. Marys Cemetery, both in St. Marie, will be at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sainte Marie Foundation.
Mary Kathryn was born March 8, 1928 in St. Marie, IL, daughter of Albert Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Litzelman Geltz. She married Arthur Yost on May 8, 1948. She later married Lyman Berry on December 26, 1973; he preceded her in death on April 5, 1987. She was also preceded in death by one son, Don Yost, in 2007; four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are her children, Sharon (Dan) Uhlir of Bloomington, Janice (Robert) Weidner of Clay City, Tom (Carol) Yost of Normal, Dave Yost of Watson and Elaine (David) Gill of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Robert Geltz of Oswego and two sisters, Betty Knell of Warrenville and Evelyn Kocher of Willow Hill.
Mary Kathryn was proud to be a 50+ year member of the American Legion Womens Auxiliary in St. Marie.
She appreciated Mother Nature and enjoyed the outdoors, nature, flowers, bird watching and gardening. She loved spending her time cooking and baking for her family and also enjoyed reading and learning.
Mary Kathryn will be remembered fondly by her family.
