Jane Culpepper Lindsay, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday afternoon, January 15, 2017, at her home. She was 85.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Teddy Ward, Pastor Alan Capps and Reverend Henry Fullington officiating.

Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Lindsay was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, daughter of the late Joseph Bertram Culpepper and Mary Nancy Money Culpepper.

She was a 1949 graduate of Abbeville High School.

Mrs. Lindsay was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as the church clerk for many years.

She was a member of the Elaine Brown Sunday School Class, the W.M.U., served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Jewel Club and was a member of the Joy Club.

Mrs. Lindsay and her late husband served in the Primary Department of the Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

She retired from the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service after twenty-eight years employment.

Mrs. Lindsay was an avid bridge player a former member of the Porch House Bridge Club and several bridge clubs in Abbeville and Dothan. I

n earlier years, she was a member of the 70’s Southland Bank Travel Club.

Mrs. Lindsay and her late husband were avid Auburn fans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Scott Lindsay and a brother, Joseph Bertram Culpepper, Jr.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Nan Armstrong (Lawton Ed), Abbeville; two sons, William Scott Lindsay, Jr.; and Herbert Warren Lindsay, Moody, AL; five grandchildren, Jason Selva (Dawn), Lindsay McDaniel, Ashleigh Lindsay Weems (Jason), Joseph Armstrong and Allison Lindsay; eight great-grandchildren, William Wise, Andrew Norton, Murphy Selva, Ellie Jae Weems, Jase Selva, Madilyn McDaniel, Makenzi McDaniel and Logan Blalock; a special cousin, Annie Ruth Hubbard Archibald; two nieces, Cathy McNeal (Mike) and Cindy Volf (Gene), a nephew, Bert Culpepper; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jason Selva, Joseph Armstrong, Jason Weems, Bert Culpepper, Wayne Scott, Lawton Ed Armstrong and Bill Roberts.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Home Instead and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Lindsay during her illness.
