A graveside service for Ralph Warren Wilson Crocker, age 52, of Auburn is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church with visitation following the service at the church. Rev. Charles Cummings and Rev. Nick Holler are officiating.

Ralph passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the Bethany House. He had been a resident of Auburn for the past 8 years.

He grew up in Pensacola, Florida, attended high school at Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, and was a graduate of Auburn University.

He was a swimming coach for Auburn University. During his seven full seasons, the Tigers won a combined eight NCAA and 10 South-Eastern Championships while posting a dual meet record of 102-3. He coached 82 swimmers to 660 All-American honors, and during his tenure eight distance freestyle swimmers won a combined 10 NCAA and SEC individual event crowns. Coach Crocker was named the U.S. National Distance Training Camp head coach in 2001 for USA swimming, which entails heading up the two-week National Team Distance Camp held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Before Auburn, he was the head swimming coach at Pine Crest School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, seven years before becoming the head coach for Great Pensacola Aquatic Club for four years. At Pensacola, Coach Crocker had six senior national qualifiers and an Olympic Festival Gold medallist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boo and Sam Crocker of Pensacola, Florida, and daughter, Lindsey Elizabeth Crocker. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Margaret Monroe Crocker of Auburn; daughter, Cameron Winn Crocker of Auburn; brother, Peter Crocker of Pensacola, Florida; nephew, Griffin Crocker of Pensacola, Florida; mother-in-law, Virginia Lee Monroe of Auburn; and brother-in-law, Sam Monroe of Hampton, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bethany House, EAMC Hospice, or your desired charity.
