Born to Charles Alexander and Lillie Rebecca Atchley in Hulbert Oklahoma, February 6th 1930. Belle came to Kern County California with her family when she was 3 years old. Growing up in the Arvin- Lamont area, she always worked hard. As a teenager she worked in the potato sheds on S. Derby. She was a partner and finance officer of Borders Ambulance Company, servicing the Kern County area. She spent time as dispatcher at the Arvin Police Department and as an assistant to RB Shane, at RB Shane bookkeeping. She went back to get her high school diploma at age 35.

At the coaxing of her little brother, Belle took the Farmers Insurance Exam and became a licensed agent. Her agency was in Lamont California for over 35 years. During her time as an agent, she often won trips, with Farmers Toppers Club for highest sales. She was one of the few female agents with Farmers at the time.

Lillie Belle was the last of the Atchley twelve. She raised 5 children that survive her today. Sherin Bates, Thomas Cain and wife Barbara, Mike Cain and wife Terry, Tony Cain and wife Karen, Shannon Grove and husband Rick. She had fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Marvin. She said " After I hug Jesus, I'm going to dance with Marvin.

Mom worked hard, traveled the world, taught us all how to not only stand on our own two feet but stand strong on our own two feet. She taught us to work hard, help those who could not help themselves and you NEVER had to worry about where she was coming from or what her opinion was. She had a beautiful presence about her, but definitely someone you didn't argue with.

She was a longtime member of the Lamont Women's Club and loved to eat at In-and - Out on Stockdale Hwy. Her favorite vacation spot was Huntington Lake California above Shaver in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains where she camped with family every year for over 55 years.
She was a mom, g-ma, mema, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved life, loved her family and loved people.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Thursday December 29th at 10:00 a.m.
