Jessie Atchley was the second son of Charlie Alexander Atchley and Lillie Rebecca (Bryen) Atchley.

He possessed a natural talent for imitating bird calls or animal sounds realistically and could "throw his voice" in the manner of a ventriloquist. During the summer of 1927, he roamed the streets of downtown Oklahoma City, used his unique abilities to entertain, and panhandled to earn extra income for the family. He became ill after such pursuits and died from a fever at 15 years of age.

Jessie's baby brother, Vernon Atchley, and their great grandfather, Joseph Alexander Atchley, great grandmother, Rachael Pauline (Tillery) Atchley, grandmother, Sarah "Alice" (Atchley) Atchley, and many others of their Atchley ikin also are buried in Roosevelt Cemetery.
