Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. Curwensville, for Virginia J. Shaffer, 84, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Marion Manor I in Curwensville after a lengthy illness.
Interment will followd at Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m and tomorrow from 11 a.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home.
Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Lincoln McKinley and L. Mae (Dent) Kelly.
She was affiliated with the New Millport United Methodist Charge and she was a member of the Curwensville VFW Women's Auxiliary.
She was a member of the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert Ferguson Post No. 842 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a homemaker.
On Aug. 23, 1943, she wed John H. Shaffer Jr. in Clearfield. He preceded her in death June 14, 1999.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Pent and her husband, Mark, of Hepburnia and Bonnie Bloom and her husband, Benjamin, of rural Curwensville; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are three brothers, William Kelly and his wife, Peg, of Clearfield, Ronald Kelly and his wife, Arvill, of Woodland and Hovert Kelly and his wife, Sally, of Connecticut.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and a brother, Clifford Kelly.
THe family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
