Charles Walter "Ward" Proctor, 73, of Hortense died Thursday, January 20, 2000 at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at King Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Entombment will be in Smyrna Cemetery in the Lulaton Community.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 6 o'clock tonight.
Pallbearers will be deacons of King Memorial Baptist Church, Claude Edgy, Marshall Edgy, Mike Smith, Charles Chaney, Jeff Crews, Bobby Rentz, Clayton Hendricks and Z.H. Tillman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of U.A. Local No. 177, Brunswick.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Courson Proctor of Hortense; three daughters, Carolyn Parker of Hortense, and Joanne Miller and Pam Smith, both of Brunswick; three sons, Danny Proctor, Steven Proctor and Ashley Proctor, all of Hortense; two sisters, Betty Goodwin of Waynesville and Adeline Tindall of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A native of Brantley County, he was a charter member and the first deacon and music director of King Memorial Baptist Church. He was a former steamfitter and welder with Local No. 177, having retired after 53 years.
Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta is in charge of arrangements.
