GALENA, Kan. - Carol Ann Baker, age 69, of Galena, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin, Mo., following a long illness.
Carol was born on December 17, 1946, in Joplin, to the union of Calvin Leon Baker and Pansy Lorine (Tracy) Baker. She had lived in Galena all of her life, graduating from Galena High School.
Carol had worked as a cook at High Winds Restaurant and Quaker Hill Nursing Home before retiring in 2005. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, in Baxter Springs, Kan. She was very crafty, and enjoyed cross stitching, embroidery, and needlework.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Pansy Baker.
Survivors include three brothers, Calvin Baker (wife, Wanda), of Sunnyvale, Calif., Danny Baker (wife, Leanna), of Freemont, Calif., and Merle Baker (wife, Dianna), of Galena; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Carol was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Pastor Jeff D. Martin will officiate. Visitation will take place following the service until 3:30 p.m. Private family burial of cremains will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in care of the funeral home.
