The funeral of Erick Johnson took place from the Swedish M.E. church last Friday afternoon. There was a very large audience present to pay their last tribute of respect to this old and respected citizen. Rev. Berg preached the funeral sermon from the text: "Return, ye children of men," Psalm 90, 3.

Mr. Johnson came to this country from Sweden in 1858, and to Iowa in 1865. He was married to his wife, who is left to grieve him, Feb. 14, 1862, and leaves a family of four (sic) children, three boys and a girl. He had been quite successful as a farmer and had acquired a competence. He had not connected himself with any church but he was a man whose honor was above reproach. His nerve was wonderful. When the doctors were to operate upon him for cancer and it was known to him that he might not come out from under the operation he cheerfully got upon the table without a sign of trepidation or fear. The neighborhood has lost a good citizen, the wife a good husband and the children a good father.
