John Mexin, Jr., 74, of Batavia formerly of Richmond, IN, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born May 9, 1932 in Aurora, IL, the son of John and Margaret (nee Szita) Mexin. John was united in marriage to Janet Phenis January 2, 1953 in Richmond, IN.

John was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict and received a Purple Heart for his dedicated service. He was employed by G.W. Berkheimer as a Manager in the HVAC industry. He was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion in St. Charles. He was also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia

He is survived by his wife, Janet of 54 years; a daughter, Rhonda (John) Campbell of St. Charles; two sons, Gregory Mexin of Batavia, and Stephen (Tina) Mexin of Batavia; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, William, George (Carol), and Frank (Renate) Mexin.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson, David Mexin.

Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

Funeral services will begin with prayer from the Moss Family Funeral Home at 10AM Monday, January 8, 2007 before processing to Holy Cross Catholic Church for Mass at 10:30AM. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
