Lieut. Tweedy Weds Miss Mayer
Son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Tweedy, of This City, Marries Miss Rosalie Mayer, of Newport

75 Guests Present
A wedding of interest to Poughkeepsians was held in Newport on Saturday afternoon when Lieutenant Albert William Tweedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Tweedy, of Dean Place, was married to Miss Rosalie Minturn Mayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Minturn Mayer, of the “Cape House,” Newport, Rhode Island. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Malbine Hunter Birckhead, a cousin of the bridge, assisted by Rev. Stanley C. Hughes, rector of Trinity Church in Newport, and took place at the home of the bride at three o’clock in the afternoon. About seventy-five guests were present. Miss L. Evelyn Mayer, of New York City, a sister of the bride, was maid of honor and John Tweedy, of this city, acted as best man. Preceding the bride was Miss Natalie Mayer, daughter of Mrs. Frank Hamilton Davis, as flower girl. Mrs. Davis was formerly Mrs. John Mayer [two following paragraphs describing the brides dress and house decorations omitted].

A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, after which Lieutenant and Mrs. Tweedy left for a short southern trip, as Lieutenant Tweedy has but a short leave of absence. They will make their home in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Among the guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. John M. Tweedy, the Misses Viola and Helen Tweedy and John Tweedy, of this city; Admiral and Mrs. Cameron, Rae Winslow, and Dr. and Mrs. Dudley Carpenter, all of the U.S. Navy. One of the interesting features of the wedding was a gift to the bride from a relative, of a locket and chain which had been worn by seven generations of brides in the Mayer family. Mr. and Mrs. Mayer formerly resided in this city, and the bride is a graduate of the Poughkeepsie High School and of Vassar College.
