Mr. Allen was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth "Liza" and "Lizzie" Slaughter) Allen. He had been a tobacco farmer. He was a widower when his first wife, the former Miss Bettie Jones died in 1923. He remarried, and his second wife became his widow. He lived in Rougemont near Durham. He was survived by family and friends.
