Paulette grew up in the East End and attended Gilford Elementary School. She loved playing hopscotch, double-dutch and jacks with her favorite cousins. As the oldest child, Paulette developed a strong work ethic at a young age often taking on babysitting duties and odd jobs to help “sponsor” her sibling’s activities. She participated in modern dance and jazz at the Riverview Recreation Center. Paulette was a member of the choir at Robert A. Taft High School from which she graduated in 1965. During high school, Paulette begun attending and was baptized at New Unity Baptist Church and recently recommitted herself to the Lord and became a member of New Vision Missionary Baptist Church.
Paulette married the late Marvin H. Williams in January 1967 and to that union their daughter, Sonya L. Williams was born. Paulette was the ultimate old school “gamer”. She enjoyed playing spades, bid whist, and traveling to different gaming establishments. She was sometimes referred to as “Gilligan” as she would often get lost on a three-hour tour.
Paulette began her career as a teller at Central Trust and retired after 33 years as a supervisor in the reconciling department due to failing health. She had a kind and generous spirit and will be missed by all that knew her.
Paulette was preceded in death by her loving parents, Cora Lee Boyd (nee Meyers) and James W. Boyd; and sister, Carolyn A. Boyd. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sonya L. Williams; brothers, James (Tracy) Boyd Jr. and Harold W. (Frances) Boyd; sister, Georgianna Johnson (nee Boyd); granddaughter, Brianna N. Williams; grandchildren, Aundrea M. Williams and Chase E.J.
