Thomas Hunter Chandler, 85, of Chattanooga, died September 18 a Park Ridge Hospital, Chattanooga, following an extended illness.

A native of Alabama, Mr. Chandler was corn October 26, 1898 to the late James William Thomas Chandler and Alice Stroud Chandler. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.

Services were conducted Thursday afternoon, September 20 at Moore-Cortner Chapel in Winchester. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by five sons, Thomas M. Chandler and Alvin Bruce Chandler, both of Hood River, Oregon, Vivian H. Chandler and Roy Chandler, both of Chattanooga, and Clay Chandler of Kokomo, Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Holt of Scottsboro, Alabama, Mrs. Doris Bradford of Chattanooga, and Mrs. Sarah Parton of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Carter Chandler of Jemison, Alabama; 36 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Moore-Cortner Chapel, with burial in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
