Lila Mae Parker Adams passed away peacefully Saturday, October 22 at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Cary, NC. Born and raised on the family farm in the Meadow Community of Johnston County, Lila became orphaned at age 8 and was took in to be raised by her oldest sister Ethel Barefoot and her husband Nelson, along with her older sister Elgie. Lila graduated Dunn High School in 1949 and became an active part of the Dunn community becoming a charter member of Dunn Advent Christian Church, member of the the Jaycees, and sharing her beautiful voice with numerous singing groups. Lila is preceded in death by her parents, John Archie Parker and Edith Catherine Vann of Johnston County. The youngest of 7, Lila is also preceded in death by siblings Ethel P. Barefoot, Garlon Parker, Cleveland Parker, Eula P. Holley, and Alda P. Tart. Also her former husband, Durwood Adams of Dunn, NC.

Lila moved to Wake County in 1971 and had remained very close to her beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She adored her family, and made many close friendships throughout her life. Her radiant smile and infectious loving spirit will be missed by the countless lives she forever impacted. Lila cherished her church family and was an active member at Garner Advent Christian Church for over 45 years. In August 2015 Lila received The Order of The Long Leaf Pine for her work and dedication in the insurance business for over 65 years. She retired at the age of 85.

Surviving are her two sons Wayne and wife, Cynthia, of Greenville, and Phil and wife, Sharon, of Garner; her sister Elgie Ivey of Cary. She was known as Mama Lila to her five beloved grandchildren, Jason Adams of Greenville, Jonathan (Becky) Adams of Cary, Beth Adams of Asheville, Amanda (Josh) Scholl of Willow Spring, and Nathan Adams of Raleigh. She was known as GiGi to her four great-grandchildren; namesake Parker Adams, Luke Adams, Drew Adams, and namesake Lila Ann Scholl.

Funeral services were held at Garner Advent Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The graveside service was at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Garner Advent Christian Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Rd. Garner, NC 27529.
