GARNER - Edward Phillip Adams (Phil), 70, is now at peace with his eternal Savior after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Phil was born and raised in Dunn, NC and graduated from Dunn High School in 1971 where he was a proud member of the Greenwave football team. He attended Chowan College from 1971-1973 where he also played football. He then attended and graduated from NC State University in 1977. Phil was a devoted Wolfpack fan and loved attending NC State football games. Phil was a member of Renewal Garner Advent Christian Church for over 40 years where he sang in the choir. He was a passionate salesman for 45 years and spent his career in both the insurance and food service industries. Phil cherished his relationship with God, his family, and his friends. Phil thoroughly enjoyed all things football and golf. He had a great love for music, particularly bluegrass and classic rock. Phil will always be remembered for his humorous, loving spirit and contagious smile. His joyful light will shine on forever.
Phil was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon Blue Adams of Garner; daughter Amanda Scholl and husband Josh of Willow Spring; granddaughter Lila Scholl, grandson James Scholl, and grandbaby #3 of Willow Spring; brother Wayne Adams and wife Cynthia of Greenville; mother-in-law Doris Blue of Dunn; and brother-in-law Ronnie Blue of Dunn.
Phil was preceded in death by his son Nathan Adams of Garner; father Durwood Adams of Dunn; mother Lila Adams of Raleigh; father-in-law James Blue of Dunn; and stepmother Joyce Adams of Dunn.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at 11:00 am at Renewal Garner Advent Christian Church (1120 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner). The service will conclude at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dunn.
