Clara J. Fastner's parents are Wenzel Fastner and Catherine Niga. She was baptised on July 5, 1891 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

The family moved to Yuma, Yuma County, Colorado from about 1892 to 1895. At the courthouse in Wray, Colorado, is where Wenzel declared his intention to become a citizen on Jan. 5, 1892. Moving back to Wisconsin, the family homesteaded at Johnson Township, Marathon County, Wisconsin. Clara remained on the homestead farm all her life.

On September 20, 1923, Clara married Joseph Pecher at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Milan, Marathon County, Wisconsin; witnesses were John Pecher and Julia Fastner.
