Amelia M. "Millie" Black, 83, of Rock Island, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
The former Amelia M. Ziegler was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Rock Island, a daughter of Edward and Rose Engels Ziegler. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1939. Millie married Irving R. Black 40 years ago in Davenport.
She worked many years at Altorfer Machinery Co., Davenport, and in earlier years at the former Parker's Department Store, Davenport.
Millie was a member of Heartland Travelers and enjoyed camping and collecting antiques.
Survivors include her husband, Irving; sister, Pearl Ziegler, Rock Island; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Virginia Ziegler, Rock Island; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rose Margaret and Anna Marie Ziegler, Catherine Grindle and Lillian Quinones; and an infant brother, Edward Joseph Ziegler.
