Services for Catherine J. Grindle, 72, of Geneseo, formerly of Rock Island, are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Entombment is in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Rock Island.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
She died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.
Mrs. Grindle was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Rock Island, the daughter of Edward and Rose Engles Ziegler. She married John D. Grindle Sept. 11, 1948, in Rock Island.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Catherine is survived by her husband, John; sons and their spouses, Steven and Karen Grindle, Tremont, Ill., David and Denise Grindle, East Moline, and Jeffrey and Bonita Grindle, Riverdale, Iowa; grandchildren, Amy, Lori, Debbie, Violet, Rose and John; sisters, Anna Taylor, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Amelia and her husband Irving Black, Pearl Ziegler, and Lillian Quinmones, all of Rock Island; and brother, Joseph and wife Virginia Ziegler, Rock Island. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Grindle, and sister, Rosemargaret Ziegler.
