She was united in marriage to Wm. Smith in the year of 1872, to this union eleven children were born. The husband and three children have proceeded her in death.
She leave to mourn their loss eght children, namely: James of Willmington, Ill.; Mrs. Laura Walker, of Peace Valley, Mo.; Mrs. Ellen Burkett, Chicago Ill.; Mrs. Augusta Jones and Mrs. Grace Gregg, of Sims Ill.; Mrs Belle Edwards of Mill Shoals, Ill.; Jacob O. of Davenport, Iowa; and Fred of Wayne City, Ill., all of whom were present except Laura. She also leaves 18 gradchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive her.
She professed faith in Christ about the year 1901 and lived a faithful Christian life until God said it is enough, come up higher and be with the loved ones gone before.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Nell Houk and Seth Davis, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burkett of Shawneetown, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burkett and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burkett, all of Benton, Ill.; Mrs. Ellen Burkett of Chicago Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. James Smith of Willmington Ill; J. O. of Davenport, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Williamson and Miss Goldie Borah all of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and Edwin Borah, of Carbondale, Ill.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning at eleven o'clock at the General Baptist Church at Sims with Rev. L.E. Louisignont in charge. Burial at Dickyville (Arrington Prairie) cemetery.
