Mary Viola (Burdge) Morgan, 92, formerly of 315 Green St., Mount Union, went to be with the Lord at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Orbisonia, where she had been a resident.
Born March 23, 1924, in Shirley Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Anna Grace (Gray) Burdge. She was united in marriage to Russell Morgan Nov. 14, 1946, at the Brethren Church in Orbisonia. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1998.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by two children, Nancy Jane Renninger and husband, Barry, of Allenport, Mount Union, and William “Bill” Morgan and wife, Donna, of Trough Creek; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Morgan, who died June 21, 1988; and her siblings, Lorma Bollinger, Inez McGarvey, Eunice Miller, Ida Snyder, Zelda Burdge, Maxine Burdge, Leon Burdge, Clair Burdge, Roy Burdge and Ruth Burdge. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Morgan had taught Sunday school for years in the children’s department of the Calvin United Methodist Church; and was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union, where she had taught Sunday school in the primary department.
She had worked at L. Greif Bros. Mfg., Mount Union, but was primarily a homemaker.
Mrs. Morgan loved to crochet, was an avid baker and loved spending time with her family. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as a loving Christian mother, who taught her children about Jesus.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Randy Wright officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery, Garden of Honor.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
